Jodi Swick Elected First Vice President of California Women Lawyers

CBM Associate Jodi Swick has been elected first-vice president of the Board of Governors of California Women Lawyers (CWL). Swick is currently serving a two-year term as a District Four Governor on the Board and is chair of the organization’s Technology Committee.

“I am honored to be elected to serve on the Executive Committee of the Board for CWL, and I look forward to the many great initiatives we have planned for 2010 and beyond. CWL plays an important role in the advancement of women in the legal profession by offering programs to promote women in the judiciary, weighing in on legislation and litigation that affects women, and continuing to conduct educational programs that combat gender bias,” said Swick. “I am truly fortunate to work with a firm that has a female leader and a long history of women in leadership positions. These senior attorneys have provided great mentorship and support for my work with this critical organization. Firm alumna and current labor commissioner, Angela Bradstreet, has even agreed to be the keynote speaker at CWL’s annual dinner this year.”

A member of CWL since 2006, Swick will be sworn into her newest position by Bradstreet at the CWL Annual Dinner on September 10, which is the Thursday evening of the State Bar Conference held this year in San Diego, California. The Board of CWL oversees numerous committees and furthers the organization’s goal of advancing women in the legal profession.

Swick, an associate, is focused on complex litigation involving insurance coverage matters in federal and state courts nationwide. Her strengths include crafting comprehensive litigation strategy with both experts and clients. Swick is experienced in a wide range of practice areas, including products liability, copyright and trademark infringement, executive compensation, business torts, unfair competition, real estate-related transactions and environmental regulation. She earned her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law.

California Women Lawyers is the only statewide bar association dedicated to promoting the advancement of women in the profession of law and society. CWL was founded as a commitment to the advancement of women, to universal equal rights and to the elimination of unfair bias. On the net: www.cwl.org.
